When it comes to brakes, you should'nt wait until brake repairs are necessary, get tested regularly.
Read moreBrake repairs is what many people tend to think about when it comes to being safe on the roads, but concentrating on regular brake maintenance is much more vital to your overall safety. Maintaining your brakes means not waiting until they need repairs but having them checked on a regular basis to help avoid any unseen or unexpected problems which might impact your ability to brake safely and efficiently should the need arise.
When it comes to Brake Maintenance, taking any risks should not be an option. To ensure that your brake maintenance is as secure as possible, contact an expert from Torrisi Automotive right away. Your brake pads play an essential role in the functioning of your brakes, and therefore it is imperative to have a qualified mechanic check them regularly. Taking good care of your brake pads should be one of your top priorities since it is a critical element of your braking system.
Whenever you press your brake pedal, the brake pads will press against your rotors and generate a considerable amount of friction. This allows your vehicle to come to a complete stop. However, the significant pressure needed to stop the car also generates a substantial amount of heat, which causes the brake pads to gradually erode. To avoid problems with your brakes, make sure to inspect them periodically and, if necessary, replace them.
Your brakes should be checked during every service appointment, but if you hear a high-pitched squeal when you apply them, it's likely a sign that your brake pads need replacing. Inside these pads is a metal component that creates this noise when it's time for a change. Don't delay the inevitable - make sure to get your brakes checked regularly! Torrisi Automotive recommend having your brakes inspected at every service.
Brake Pads can last anywhere between 15,000 to 70,000 km's. This can differ due to a number of factors such as; driving conditions and style, regular heavy loads. If your brake pads are wearing out early your mechanic might advise using a heat resistant or heavier duty brake pad more suited to your vehicle.
At Torrisi Automotive we offer a free 65 Point Vehicle Inspection Report with every car service. As part of our Vehicle Inspection Report we inspect the brake pads for wear and advise you if they need replacing. We can also advise the right pad for your local conditions and driving style.
Keeping your car brakes functioning at optimum levels is made possible with brake fluid, providing the necessary pressure for the brake pads to bring the car to a halt. Additionally, the fluid guards against the deterioration of the system's components and can help extend its longevity. Most people understand that it is necessary to maintain the level of brake fluid, however, it is also important to get a complete system flush to swap out old fluid and ward off an excessive moisture build up.
It is highly recommended that you routinely inspect the colour of your brake fluid, but DO NOT depend solely on it as an indicator of its current state. Its colour might seem ok but that does not necessarily mean that it is in good condition. Brake fluid will grow darker over time due to the heat generated by the braking process. If the fluid is more brown than yellow it indicates debris and dirt is present. Black brake fluid is more serious as it indicates moisture build up in the fluid which can have serious consequences for your barking ability.
A common source of spongy brakes is the deterioration of brake fluid due to a lack of periodic replacement. This issue is especially common for older vehicles, as owners may not bother to replace the fluid for many years. Over time, the brake fluid will absorb moisture and other particles, significantly lowering the temperature at which it will boil. This boiling of the brake fluid causes steam to form in the braking system, thereby decreasing the vehicle's ability to stop. Fortunately, this can be fixed by replacing the brake fluid on a regular basis.
You can get a brake fluid flush done as a part of regular maintenance - but in some cases, our experts might suggest one regardless of the maintenance schedule. We are more than pleased to talk you through the reasons for that.
At Torrisi Automotive we offer a full 65 Point Vehicle Inspection report, upon request, with every full car service which includes a written review of your brake system and more. This Vehicle Inspection Report lets you know if there is immediate or future need for repairs to your vehicle allowing you to budget in advance.
